Community Access Visits

We have serious concerns that the proposed Community Access Visits have the potential to compromise the health and safety of everyone associated with Oakwood Terrace. The pandemic continues to increase and continues to present a significant danger to the population of Canada.

The provincial government clearly wants to increase access to long term care residents and their families. We appreciate this has been a challenging time for residents, family members, and the staff in long term care throughout the province. With this in mind, and against our better judgment, we will be introducing Community Access Visits starting on 30th September 2020.

We are still ironing out all the details as to how this is going to work but our initial plans are for:

  • All Community Access Visits will be by appointment.

  • 4 appointment slots per day.

  • Pick up of residents will be between 10-11 am or 1-2 pm.

  • Appointments will be available 7-days per week.

  • Appointments will not be timed, the suggestion is that that the Community Access Visits will last a few hours.

  • No overnight visits are permitted.

  • Family members and residents will need to comply with provincial government guidelines aimed at reducing the potential spread of COVID-19.

  • Waivers will need to be completed prior to the commencement of the first Community Access Visit.

We will provide more details in the near future. In the meantime please feel free to call reception to schedule your Community Access Visit.
