From 16th June residents of Oakwood Terrace can receive visits from family and friends that are not recognized as Designated Caregivers (DCGs). For the time being all visits of this type need to be outside of the building.
The following requirements will be in place:
• All visitors will have to follow the current Guidelines for Long-Term Care Facilities in Nova Scotia and adhere to the requirements set out within the Health Protection Order.
• All visitors will be screened upon arrival for COVID-19.
• All visitors will have their name and contact information recorded.
• Visiting hours will be 9am-6pm 7-days per week.
• All visits for general visitors will take place in the grounds of Oakwood Terrace.
• No general visitors are permitted into Oakwood Terrace except during the screening process.
• Residents will be brought to front entrance of Oakwood Terrace to meet with visitors. This will either be coordinated by staff or by Designated Caregivers.
• It is suggested that visitors call ahead to coordinate with the care units regarding visiting, this will help the units plan and reduce any delays.
• All visitors as expected to keep to the social distancing guidelines enforced by the province of Nova Scotia.
• Visitors must wear a medical or non-medical mask during the outdoor social visit.
• Outdoor social visits are permitted for all residents. Outdoor social visits without social distancing are permitted for fully immunized residents only and all visitors must be masked.
The following is for information purposes:
• Visitors should keep in mind that the weather will be factor during all outdoor visits.
• There is little shade in the grounds of Oakwood Terrace and all visits should be aware that residents are prone to heat exhaustion and sunburn.
• Sunscreen is suggested for all visitors and residents.
• Outdoor visits maybe suspended at short notice due to inclement weather.
